Groundhog Day is a movie that I revisit often.
Bill Murray is hilarious and Andie MacDowell is charming. The movie has humor, romance, and a message. The poor obnoxious weatherman gets to relive one day until he gets it right.
And what does he learn? That joy comes from love, from learning, and from serving others.
That’s a good message for any of us who feel that we are stuck in a rut. I might have two hours of commute a day, but I can choose what to do with that time — maybe even learn something.
One of my favorite learning links is thegreatcourses.com I have bought many of their courses. I particularly enjoyed a course entitled The American Identity about famous Americans. One of my daughters liked the course 1066. And my husband has watched most of the math courses. The Geometry course is fantastic for high schoolers. I could go on and on.

I love Groundhog Day, although that wasn’t always true. Went to see it with an obnoxious ex, and it took me years to recover….but once rediscovered it, I have to watch it several times a year. Whenever I feel like I haven’t got enough time, I think of Bill Murray teaching the groundhog how to drive, “Side of your eye. Side of your eye. Don’t drive angry!” When I think how miserable and alone he was, I am more grateful for my crazy fast paced life.
I finally went out and got my own copy of this fun movie. We watched it just a couple of days late (Feb 4th) but it’s still fun. I’m always amazed that the supporting cast can be bright and “first time” in each repeated scene as Bill Murray’s character changes over time. Fun stuff.
I just love this movie too! I posted about it last year. Watched it again this year. I don’t own it, but every time it’s on TV I just have to tune in and have another rewatch. It just doesn’t get old!
